Emily Sanchez - Elections Matter

I just wanted to mention how much this class and the exercises we've done since the last blog have helped me. It's incredible how different I feel about myself when I'm about getting things done. Elections are important because they allow voters to express their ideas and shape the course of their country. They let people to be part Election Day representatives who share their views and priorities, influencing legislation on vital subjects like healthcare, education, and social justice. Participation in the political process is critical for a functioning democracy because it ensures that all opinions are heard and elected officials are held accountable for their actions. Participating in elections is more than a right; it is a responsibility that helps determine the future of our communities and country. Elections decide policies that affect everyday living, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social services. The conclusion could lead to major changes in how these services are delivered. Participation in elections encourages civic duty and involvement. It encourages residents to be knowledgeable about issues and actively participate in their communities. Elections support democratic ideas such as the right to vote and the belief that government should be "of, by, and for the people". They allow citizens to express their views and influence decision-making. Elections can serve as a catalyst for social change. When new leaders or policies are elected, they can address critical societal challenges while also promoting equality and justice. I've even noticed my changes while preparing for a presentation or researching. I've established my specific strategy, and it's been running so well that it puts me at rest. Now, I'd want to begin by outlining and emphasizing the importance of the approaching election. The controversies are ridiculous! It's never happened before. I don't want to get too personal and perhaps biased, so I'll just say this: voting is more crucial than ever. We are the next generation, the mass people who will become part of the planet in a few years. It is a vote for our future, our children, and their children. So, it goes without saying that you should conduct study and educate yourself for your own benefit, as well as that of your colleagues, family, and everyone else in this country. As previously said, there are many controversies surrounding the next election, including too many lies, too many bluffers, and insufficient prejudices based on facts and data. The electoral process has evolved over the centuries in our country, which is mind-blowing, but the group's use of timelines, graphs, and information in general was remarkable. It is very sacred and time-consuming to go into depth about this, but what is most essential is that we have the opportunity NOW to decide what is best for our future; utilize your voices, act responsibly, and learn to educate others so that they may make the best decisions for our country as well. Referring to our Public Speech outside on the stairs, we worked extremely hard to convey our point and the main message of this entire event, which is the necessity of voting and why "Election Matters." Education plans aren't getting much attention right now because everything appears to be going smoothly. Universities are maintaining high percentages across the country, and we are seeing a lot of former high school students wanting to further their education and continue for their own futures, the futures of their families, financial stability, and housing. Being able to buy houses at a young age is very smart, and it can certainly lead to a realtor position. This group delivered their message to the audience with remarkable effectiveness. They were outstanding, going above and beyond to ensure everyone was satisfied; my friends and I were genuinely impressed. We’ve had numerous discussions about how much we appreciated this experience and the class overall; it’s truly a privilege to be part of such an amazing environment. The group presented the topic of gender equality in a compelling way during class. What struck me most was the staggering fact that male NBA players earn nearly 16 times more than WNBA players. It’s astonishing! While it's clear that the NBA enjoys significantly more attention, recognition, and sponsorship, one has to wonder why that is. Watching certain WNBA clips can be astonishing, and over time, many of these issues have progressed—though we know that conditions were much worse in the past when women couldn't vote or work. We all recognize the potential of our country; it’s vital to focus on making America great again. Let’s strive to return to the beautiful, free, and stable nation we once knew. One topic that seems to sharply divide voters is the issue of abortion—whether to ban it or support pro-choice. Often, personal beliefs, particularly religious ones, significantly influence the decisions people make As a Christian, along with many others, oppose pro-choice because it is widely understood that we do not have the right to decide another person's life. Taking a life is considered a grave sin according to the Bible. pro-choice supporters argue that a woman should have the right to make decisions about her own body. They often cite pregnancies resulting from sexual assault as a significant example, believing that the option of carrying an unwanted pregnancy should be considered, which is understandable. The child may not grow up with their biological father or in orphanages, which are rarely ideal environments. However, as previously mentioned, pro-life advocates typically adhere to their beliefs about what they view as divinely ordained and sacred, while others see this perspective as fundamentally wrong. Former President Donald Trump represents the Republican Party and advocates for pro-life initiatives, movements, and legislation. On the other hand, Vice President Kamala Harris represents the Democratic Party and clearly supports pro-choice policies. In the end, my group and I focused on immigration policies. We were the first to choose this topic because it resonated with us all. Conducting research was both enlightening and unsettling, as we encountered perspectives from both parties, as well as opinions from Victoria and Mia because they interview people like Mia interview her mom and ask her question. We also looked into the crimes associated with the new laws aimed at making it easier for immigrants to enter the country. It’s been a tumultuous time, but hopefully, things will improve if the right candidate takes office. Overall, the presentations were very informative and helpful in guiding our choices for the upcoming election. As we move forward, let us take a minute to reflect on our personal strength. Every decision we make influences the environment around us. Let's make sure such decisions reflect the best of who we are."
